There are three main production methods of medium and low carbon ferromanganese: electric silicon thermal method, shaking furnace method and oxygen blowing method. Low carbon ferromanganese smelting process is to add manganese rich ore, manganese silicon alloy and lime to the electric furnace, mainly by electric heating to melt the charge, and manganese silicon refining and desilication obtained.

The shaking furnace method, also known as the shaking ladle method, is to melt the liquid manganese silicon alloy and liquid medium manganese slag in the mineral thermal furnace into the shaking ladle, in the shaking ladle for strong mixing, so that the silicon in the manganese silicon alloy reacts with the manganese oxide in the slag, for desiliconization and manganese reduction, and then, the liquid manganese silicon alloy with part of the silicon is remixed into the electric furnace with preheated manganese rich ore and lime to smelt low carbon ferromanganese together.

These two methods have the problems of high energy consumption, high cost and low production efficiency.

Low carbon ferromangano smelting by oxygen blowing method is to heat the liquid high carbon ferromangano smelted by electric furnace (containing carbon 6.0-7.5%) into the converter, and remove the carbon in high carbon ferromangano by blowing oxygen into the top oxygen gun or argon at the bottom of the top oxygen blowing, while adding appropriate amount of slagging agent or coolant, when the carbon is removed to meet the standard (C≤ 2.0%) requirements, The resulting alloy is medium carbon ferromanganese.

In the production of medium carbon ferromanganese by this method, the blow loss of manganese is large, the yield of manganese is low, there are also problems of high energy consumption, high cost and low production efficiency, and manganese rich ore must be used, and poor manganese ore resources cannot be utilized.

The invention relates to a new smelting process with low energy consumption, high production efficiency, high yield of manganese and low cost, which can make full use of poor manganese ore resources by blast-refining furnace.
